I love words, but I love books more because they’re full of them. As I stated in my last post I’ve gone through some interesting books lately. World War Z by Max Brooks, Transformers Exodus by Alex Irvine, and Star Wars Betrayal by Aaron Allston. Well as of today I added The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy to that list.
I’d heard of this book, seen parts of the movie based on it but never actually read it nor did I know it was based on actual events. I know all the LA, hipster, book club types are probably upset over my lack of knowledge but I’m over it.
The book was great! The movie was pretty good too, but as usual I liked the book much more. Josh Hartnett is one of my favorite actors, and he did a good job of bringing the main character to life.
Sorry if the post got kind of misleading, I’m not trying to review the book or anything. Just lettin’ everyone know what material I’ve had my nose in lately. Since I finished that, I’m starting Star Wars Bloodlines by Karen Traviss. It’s the next novel in the Legacy of The Force series, so since finishing Betrayal I’ve been excited to start it.
On a different note..
The new Linkin Park cd, A Thousand Suns, is amazing. Great album from start to finish so if you’re a die-hard LP fan or just a casual listener lookin’ for some good music go get that.
And lastly, the new Anime in Hip Hop is up on underneaththedesert.com so go check it out! - www.underneaththedesert.com -
Blessings to you and yours,

Sorry I haven’t put anything up in a while, I don’t have a computer of my own so it’s been a hassle. But lately there’s been some cool stuff going on.
I’ve been reading a lot, I knocked out World War Z, Transformers Exodus, and Star Wars Betrayal in the last month or so. And now I’m about halfway through The Black Dahlia.
I’ve also got a good amount of writing done. Just some poems and short essays and stuff. I need to get back to my movie script so I can get that going. I’d also like to get some music stuff going again, but I don’t necessarily know if I want to approach it from an emcee standpoint. I love writing but don’t know if lyrics are my strong point (this is not to say I’m done writing songs, just not feeling it at the moment).
I’m also really excited about the upcoming month of October. The 1st I will be taking part in my very first art gallery opening for the “Art War” show put on by the Yuma Fine Arts Center (I’ll post pics once that goes down). My brother’s birthday is the 5th so I may be back in San Diego for that, so that will be fun. And I’ll be heading to Vegas for the very first time for my gf’s birthday on the 16th. I’m way stoked for that! And then last but not least Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 comes out on the 26th, so I’ll be back in front of the Xbox for that.
The Air Force is progressing, I’ve taken my ASVAB and scored well enough to qualify for all the jobs I’d like to do. Just need to take my physical test and see where it goes from there.
Well that is my update for now. Hope ya’ll had a good weekend and have a good week ahead. Take care and God bless.

Horizons is one of the few modern metalcore records that has truly caught my attention within the past few years. Parkway Drive currently has my band out for their 2010 Deep Blue Australian Tour, and it’s been something I’ve wanted for quite some time. Musically I feel like PWD does not…
This is one of my favorite albums, so I figured I’d reblog this. Another good piece about a great band. This post is not originally mine (hence the “reblog”) so check out the original here - mikehranica.com -
Also, Parkway Drive has a new album out entitled Deep Blue. If you’re a fan of the band or a fan of good metalcore you owe it to yourself to go and pick that up. It’s also an incredible record. Parkway Drive, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Ghost Inside are on a tour together over in Australia/New Zealand right now..
I wish I lived in Australia.
Have a good day, and God bless.

Enjoy his pics. He’s as talented an artist with a pencil/pen/paintbrush as he is with a camera. He’ll just never tell ya’ so himself.
Blessings,

“Love Her Like He Does” - a poem
I’m tall and awkward.
She’s short and elegant.
I pray she’s forever in my future,
the past before her is irrelevant.
She tells me everyday that she’s in love.
I pray everyday to be more godly,
so I can love her like He does.
I pray everyday to be more godly,
so I can love her like He does.
For my beautiful and wonderful gf, Katherine Ann Wendt. Whom I miss terribly.
Blessings,
Zach

So this weekend I came up to SD with my gf & her sister, my friend Robert, and my brother & his gf. We had a pretty fun 2 days runnin’ around downtown SD and chillin’ at the beach, but now they’ve headed home. I’m still here. Missing them. I stayed behind cause I’m going to be seeing a recruiter most of the week to try and join the Air Force.
Usually this wouldn’t be a big deal, but for me it really is. I’m trying to strengthen my relationship with the Lord through prayer and my actions. I feel like now is the time for me to do so, and I’ve had some pretty strong confirmation from friends, family, and other sources. I’m not trying to preach here, just simply stating that I’m missing my gf, friends, and family while also going through some deeply personal changes. So those of you who do, I’d appreciate and welcome any prayers you’d offer. Those who don’t, thanks for reading and thanks for your support spiritual or otherwise.
Hope everyone had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend. Now get back to work you bums!
God bless,
Zach

I’ve never listened to these guys before, but this post makes me want to. Mike’s mini-reviews do what they’re suppose to, make you want to listen to the music he’s talking about. They’re short and detailed but at the same time simple. No gimmicks, or shinfo here. Just what he hears, and why he likes it. So I’m gonna check out Converge, and I’m thinking you should do the same. Click the link to the left (or go to mikehranica.com) to view more of Mike’s musical musings.
Take care & God bless,
Zach
